Happy New Year………..and huge thanks to all of you who have supported Educateperu so well this last year. I especially want to thank the 42 godparents who have made these photos possible. Even though I am very familiar with how the people live in Pachacutec, I was in tears reading headteacher Mary’s account of the godchildren’s festivities, how they had marvelled at what was provided and also, how hard the teachers had worked to co-ordinate it all. They all had a special lunch, to which their parents were invited too, so that they have a clearer idea of just what the godparents’ help provides and achieves. Mary commented that the parents were amazed to see meat on the plate for each child – normally just the bones is a more common experience. Just that comment alone tells you everything really. They had games and a clown and after the meal and the presents, they did their “thank you” notes and pictures, as you can see. They have already been posted to me, taking a month to arrive! You will get yours either at the lunch this coming Saturday 29th or via the post.
Such effort on the part of the staff at Saxlingham St. Mary’s Pachacutec is not possible without your support, so a big “thank you” to you all. If anyone reading this is not already a godparent and would like to be, please email me via the website www.educateperu.org or ring me on 01508 498050.
