Pilar is a tiny woman who has struggled to keep going after her husband left the family. She had to postpone her studies to be a pharmacist and go and sell food in the street to feed herself and her 3 children. She only had one last section of her dissertation to do so when the university told her that if she does not finish it this year, they would annul her degree…..so she had to do it! She finally finished this December 2018 and is now a qualified pharmacist. She can start work as soon as she receives her certificate…bearing in mind that she also has to work for one year for the State for free!

All of this was done whilst living in the sole remaining room, all 4 sleeping in one bed. Along came Fiorella, a Peruvian who lives in Miami but has a charity and they donated the money for a new dwelling. Pilar now has the new little 3 roomed house that is shown. Still without water, but we are working on that.

I am so proud of her….she is a brilliant example of the indomitable spirit of Peruvian women here in Pachacutec.
